The Owner: Affie and JohannaWith a long-standing passion for Italy and all things Italian, we bought San Luigi in 2010 and have recently completed an exceptional restoration. Retaining original features and combining the best of Italian craftsmanship with luxurious and timeless furnishings and original artworks collected from across the world, San Luigi is an outstanding home away from home in undoubtedly one of the most beautiful regions of the world. As well-travelled as we are, having lived overseas for the last decade, we are now happy to call this wonderful area of Southern Tuscany, ‘Home’ and delighted that we can share the experience with our guests, whom we are sure will come to love San Luigi, this region and its people, as much as we do.

San Luigi is a unique and historical Tuscan residence...

San Luigi is a unique and historic Tuscan residence, offering spacious and luxuriously appointed accommodations for up to 14 guests. Perfectly equipped for both summer and winter stays in Southern Tuscany, San Luigi stands proudly on a hilltop, surveying the diverse Tuscan landscape. To the south, the summit of Mount Amiata and the hilltop town of Montalcino are clearly visible. To the east lies the moon-like landscape of the Crete Senesi, while undulating fields and wooded hills stretch to the west. On a clear day, from the estate’s highest point, the towers of Siena can be seen glistening in the sunlight. San Luigi is situated within the historic Castelnuovo Tancredi estate, which dates back to 1315. Its location is ideal for experiencing the beauty, culture, wine, and gastronomy of Southern Tuscany. San Luigi has grown larger and more beautiful over the centuries, with the most recent restoration creating a fabulous contemporary Tuscan estate. Using some of Italy’s best craftsmanship, the renovation ensured that none of the property’s original features were spoiled. This seamless blend of historic charm and modern luxury makes San Luigi a perfect retreat for those looking to experience the best of Tuscany’s heritage and elegance. The medieval walled town of Buonconvento, with its restaurants, bars, shops selling local produce, supermarket, and railway station, is just a seven-minute drive away. The famous Brunello vineyards of Montalcino are only 15 minutes away, while Siena, Pienza, San Quirico d’Orcia, and the thermal baths at Bagno di Vignone are all within a 30-minute drive.
